除了作为治疗HIV感染者的长效疗法以外，吉利德科学也在进行临床试验，评估lenacapavir作为暴露前预防（PrEP）疗法的潜力。在临床前的非人灵长类动物研究中，一次低剂量或高剂量lenacapavir注射能够将感染风险分别降低86%（p=0.0061）和96%（p=0.0002）。

猎药人网站指出，lenacapavir是小分子药物开发的经典案例，并预祝它在今后的临床开发和批准过程中传来更多的好消息。
